The Department of Health finally released the guidelines on the much awaited program that replaces RNheals; dubbed as "Nurse Deployment Project" that aims to improve local health systems that will support the country's attainment of the Universal Health Care or "Kalusugang Pangkalahatan." Under this project, selected nurses would be deployed to the country's poorest provinces wherein priority is given to municipalities determined by National Anti-Poverty Commission and DSWD.
Unlike in RNheals where nurses received an allowance of 8,000 php (additional 2,000 php from LGU), in Nurse Deployment Project they would receive a monthly salary grade of 11, amounting to 18, 549php. Initially, their contract would be for 6 months but is renewable for a maximum of 2 years depending on their performance.
Recruitment and selection already started last November 4, 2013. CHDs will accept applicants until November 29, 2013. The application form is downloadable through DOH's website and should be submitted directly to CHDs. Nurses who are physically and emotionally fit and with valid license issued by PRC could apply. Priorities are given to RNheals graduates and to those who are residing in the localities where the recipient RHUs/ facilities are located. Those who will make it to the list of successful applicants would receive a letter/email/call of confirmation and would be required to attend the pre-deployment orientation.
Nurse Deployment Project somehow works like RNheals too. Nurses would be deployed in the following areas:
- Rural Health Units
- Birthing homes
- Barangay Health Stations
- Level I LGU Hospitals
Like in RNheals, nurses should submit their DTRs and Monthly Accomplishment Reports. Aside from salary, perhaps, the major difference between the two is the type of certificate the nurses would receive upon completion of the project. Certificate of Training was awarded to RNheals graduates but in this new program, they would receive a Certificate of EMPLOYMENT. This would definitely help them land jobs in the future.
